Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc harvested from Borthwick Vineyard.

Viticulture:
Following a 2 week early budburst with a very cool spring provided a somewhat testing year in the vineyard. As the season progressed the regular pattern followed with the training and nurturing of the vines and grapes by hand. The cold spring produced a reduced yield but one of fantastic quality.

Hand picked in the early morning and processed quickly from the vineyard to the winery. The pressed juice retained all the flavours developed in the vineyard. After a controlled cool fermentation in stainless steel the wine was aged for 5 months on fermentation lies before filtering and bottling.

Tasting Notes: The 2003 Sauvignon Blanc shows characteristic passion fruit, nettle and gooseberry aromas, with intensely mouth filling tropical fruit flavours. This is a wine that follows the benchmark style and quality of the 2000/2001/2002 gold medal winning wines produced from the estate vineyard.
