Variety:
100% Riesling harvested from the Estate vineyard

Viticulture:
With the decision to put in a water frost system after the cold 2003 spring, the completion occurred the day of the first frost. A regular season ensured until February. The wettest month for some years created a delay in harvest by 2 weeks. Free draining soils and open canopies optimized the ripening and production of quality grapes. The addition of total lockout netting dispensed of the gun-wielding quad-riding bird chasers and respective damage from birds culminating in a fantastic vintage in the new purpose built winery.

Specifications:

Winemaking:
Harvested in the early morning when the flavors were showing their best, the grapes were hand picked and processed quickly. Following a slow cool fermentation in stainless steel the wine was stopped fermenting at 8.5 gms/litre to retain natural fruit sweetness.

Tasting Notes:
The 2004 Riesling has an enticing aroma of limes, ginger and honey. Off dry in style with hints of apricots and a long lingering finish has created a wine with definition and enjoyment now. Time in bottle will show the fantastic developing complexities of great Riesling.
